God wrap his loving arms around your family and you Dear Gary.  I thank him for the time he stopped and talked with me at Parker and always asking me about Les.  Many Prayers.

I have such fond memories of  Gary Hensley.  The first time I heard him teach Sunday School at Liberty Church of God back in the 80's it was such a blessing to me. You could feel the love for God in this man and his love for people.  He sure helped me a lot with his encouragement and his prayers.   Go rest high Bro. Gary-rest in peace.  You will be missed by so many.  Gone way too soon but you fought the fight and kept the faith and I know you are resting in God's sweet arms.

Linda,  We are so sorry for your loss.  Having Gary’s friendship for over 60 years leaves so many wonderful and often funny memories that will never be forgotten. From grade school to the ministry at Sounds of Faith there are a lifetime of shared experiences that will always be in our hearts and mind. We love you and will keep you in our prayers.

So sorry for your loss. Gary was a cousin to me and my siblings, Stan Hensley and Sandra (Hensley) Buddinger. My brother and Gary were able to share a few days a year when my parents Paul and Louise Hensley would take their 1 week vacation, to travel IL to TN to reunite with some family members and of course their parents. I was so happy to have been able to reunite with Gary after 40+ years. It was at a very sad time in 2018, the loss of my mother Louise Hensley. We were so blessed to have Gary officiate at her service. He was able to visit a while with my siblings and few more, we  sat on the front porch listened to my brother and Gary share some of their fishing or hunting outings or the mechanic skills and their love of cars.  I was so happy that Gary had visited my mom just about 4 months prior to her death and caught up on about 45 years. Lol. Mom had called me and told me how much she enjoyed their visit. Gary had such a pretty smile. Which he did a lot of. He shared his love for Jesus, wasn’t shy about it either. I’m certain he’s talking about him now. I was hoping to reconnect again with Gary and meet his family. I’m so sorry it did not happen.?  Prayers for Entire Hensley Family. God Bless

We offer our sincere condolences to the family of Elder Gary Hensley from all of us at Upper Room Bible College & Seminary. We had the great privilege to meet and  have Elder with us in our school this year. Gary had the personality that drew everyone to him and a smile that calmed the soul. We will miss his presence and lifetime of knowledge he shared with us. The last night Gary attended class we were discussing our assigned callings from God (what we are assigned to do) and others spoke about what they wanted to do in the church and how they aspired  to do great things, Gary spoke about his calling and election given to him and how satisfied he felt completing his work. He talked about the years he has served pastors and leaders in churches and how he was currently serving Pastor Michael Washington; Senior pastor of New Beginnings church, and he smiled as he said “I am completely satisfied serving those in the ministry that are over me and have done so for forty-five years. Everyone paused for a moment as he continued to say I know what my calling has been for many years and I am happy to serve my pastor in anyway he calls me to and with his smile so many have spoken about that knew him he said “and that is what I will continue to do until the Lord calls me home”.  Nothing less can be said of such a sweet man than what I hear from the word of the Lord.... Well done thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. (Matt: 25:21) Our hearts are saddened for your family by this great loss.  

I am so sorry to hear Gary has passed.  We were neighbors when we were kids living on Hillard Street.   The neighborhood playground was the woods behind our houses.  I remember all the fun we all had playing in tree houses and swinging from grapevines.  I lost contact with Gary and Becky when the family moved.   But I will cherish those childhood memories.  I pray the Lord will comfort and bless his family.  I would love to reconnect with you Becky.

Linda,  This is Charlotte Dykes,  your neighbor and one of Gary's nurses when he was in ICU.  I just wanted to share with you a little bit of my experience of having the privilege to care for Gary when he was in our ICU.  The first night that he was my patient, I  received report from the day shift nurse.  Gary had been transferred from the floor to our ICU a couple days ago. He had been in isolation for several days now, and this takes a toll on anyone, being isolated from family.  He had been withdrawn,  sad, ... until...  the isolation was lifted  and you were able to come visit him...the second that he saw your sweet face, even behind a mask... just your presence, and the love that exploded when he realized that you were  there... his whole demeanor changed instantly.  His eyes sparkled, he smiled, and he seemed for the first in days... happy and hopeful.  Talk about the  " power of love !" I,...we saw the love that he had for his family, for you... just like the power of God's love for us. Therefore, I know, as you do also, that God's love will carry you and your family through these difficult times.  Gary was all the nurses favorite patient.  Sometimes he would have trouble sleeping at night,  so I would sit with him and we talked about God and Heaven and family,  and...occasionally about our crazy neighbors.  LOL. We sometimes would listen to some good Ole country gospel songs. Gary was not only my patient,  he became my friend.  My neighbor who I didn't even know until now, was an inspiration to me, and many others. It was an honor and a privilege to be his nurse, his friend.  Condolences to you and your family. 

Gary’s  sweet smile will be missed by his family and friends. Prayers for his sweet family as I know your heart breaks.  Heaven has gained another 😇.    Praying for peace and blessings on each family and friend.  Love you Linda and prayers for your sweet family ❤️

Linda and Becky, I am so sorry to hear of Garys' passing.  I have so many memories of our childhood years on Hillard St. and after he married you Linda. I last saw Gary about 5 yr. ago at Lowes. He gave me that big grin, stretched out his arms and wrapped them around me like he always did. I will miss that. I am praying for all of you and sending lots of love your way.  

So sorry for your loss. Gary was a person who always had a smile and a big heart.  Loved his laughter for it was one of a kind.  

I haven’t worked with Gary since 2013 but I sure will miss him. We shared our birthdays and I think of him every year. Rest In Peace Gary, you were one of the kindest people I knew and never had a bad word to say about anyone. 

Gary always had a smile and a kind word for all. He loved to laugh and have fun. He will be sadly missed. 

In passing one another we always pointed at each other and said “Am I my brother’s keeper “

Uncle Gary has always been there to give us a good laugh. He's a natural jokester, and at any event, would motion for you to "come here" so he could plant a line on you. You could always catch him sitting somewhere with a grin on his face. 
I'll never forget the beach trip that I joined Uncle Gary, Aunt Lin, Grammy, and Poppy for. We liked to never make it off Shell Island. I'll cherish all the years of laughter he has given us all. 

(Cousin) Gary always had a smile on his face, love in his heart, and a sweet spirit that caused his face to glow.  He was always encouraging -- such a blessing to all who were privileged to know him.  If. you were around Gary, there was a presence of the Divine- he was surely a godly man.  He brought a lot of sunshine to a lot of people-- my mother and Gary would have a wonderful, laughter-filled time when he was able to visit her in nursing home.  I was looking forward to the time he could visit and laugh with her again when the care facilities were safe to be re-opened for family visits.
   Our condolances to you, Linda and Becky and family.  God grant you comfort and peace. 🙏💙

I'm so sorry.Freddie and I worked with Gary a lot of years.I have a lot of good memories of Gary.You all are in my thoughts and prayers. 

Uncle Gary was one of the many family members who supported me in my recovery from addiction. I'm so grateful that I turned my life around in time for him to see me do it. I couldn't live with myself if I hadn't gotten to say goodbye. Uncle Gary officiated my wedding. I'll miss him dearly.

We met Gary at our grandson @ Shawnas wedding, then when his mother went home. Such a wonderful man to talk to about the bible, so sorry for yall loss
