

He was a loving husband, Daddy, Da Da and Great Da Da.
George was a member of Cross Anchor Presbyterian Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1962 – 1966. After the Air Force, he went to work at Lockheed, then to Holston Defense and then to Eastman Kodak from which he retired in 1998 as a Maintenance Mechanic. George always enjoyed fixing things for family and friends. The Lord blessed him with a mechanical mind and a servants heart.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diana Gammons Britton; son Mark and wife Leslie Britton; grandsons, Zachary and wife Madilynn Britton and Zane and wife Callie Britton; great granddaughter, Josie Britton and a great grandson Hudson Britton, that he knew was coming in July. Also surviving are one brother Jim and Wife Doris Jean Britton; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved.
George was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Kate Britton and a brother and his wife, Johnny Bill and Rose Mary Britton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 4 – 7 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, with Brother Oscar McAmis and Brother Pete Smith officiating.
Interment will be on Thursday in Cross Anchor Cemetery, at 10 am. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9:15 am at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers are, Zachary Britton, Zane Britton, Mike Brown, Robert Britton, Jason Starnes and Wayne E. Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers are Wade McAmis, Eddie Harmon, Freddie Malone, Harold Smith, Vince Murray, Bobby Britton and Travis Weems.
Greene County Honor Guard and U. S. Air Force Honors Team will provide Military Graveside Services.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
