He is preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years, Sharen “Cricket” Woods Edens and by his 2nd wife, Carrol Fillers Edens.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Ruth Edens and Chris Jordan and their respective families.
He was the last of a breed. A “Jack” of all trades. He lived a full and long life. He never met a stranger.
He was a youngster at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, member of the Youth group there, a Holly Creek swimmer, tree climber, mule teamster, golden gloves boxer, high school football player, college football player, guitar player, piano banger (he banged on the piano more than tickling the ivories), crooner, Green Giant pea canner, crop picker, wheat harvester, combine operator, a U.S. Navy boilerman, barge operator, dairyman, farmer, log house builder, chainsaw carpenter, pilot, crop duster, distiller, gardener, lawn mower, porch swinger, food lover, friend, neighbor and father.
So, in honor of Jack, make yourself a toddy, invite friends and family over to join you and sit on the front porch for a while and visit. He would have loved to join you.
Services will be held at a later date when we can sit on the porch at toddy time.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Jack’s name.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
