James Clyde "Pete" Ashley
August 31, 1944 – January 20, 2021
James Clyde “Pete” Ashley, 76, of Mohawk, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
He attended Community Baptist Church in Bulls Gap.
Pete was a machinist at Enka for 34 years. He served in the U. S. Army Reserve 733 engineering company.
The family stated he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to many; he was a good and gracious person.
He was a lifetime motorsports enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years: Rachel Ashley; children: Vickie (Lloyd) Baugh, Jerome (Rhonda) Banks, Rodney Banks, Robert (Penny) Britton, and Hollie (Dustin) Toth; thirteen grand children; seventeen great grandchildren; brother: J. D. (Shirley) Ashley; sister: Glenna (Joe) Neill; special friend: Aaron O’Reilly; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Lenoir Ashley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 – 6 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 6 pm with Greg Douthat officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Monday in Mohawk Cemetery at 12 pm. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery on Monday by 11:45 am.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
