Rev. James "Jim" Burns, 66, went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2013. He was loving husband, father, and brother. In 2011, he announced his calling to preach and in May, 2012, he was ordained into the South Greene Ministerial Association. He was the pastor of Faithful View Baptist Church and he served our country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. After 41 years, he retired from Jarden Zinc. Following his retirement, he enjoyed caring for his sheep.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Fleeta Burns; and his brother: Albert "Abb" Burns and Robert Burns.

He is survived by his wife: Judy Burns; a son: Brandon Burns; three sisters: Iva Lutz, Linda (Gary) Carter, and Tryna (Freddie) Strong; three brothers: Glen (Linda) Burns, Charlie Burns, and Ricky (Penny) Burns; uncles: Bill Reynolds and John (Joyce) Starnes; aunts: Charlsie (Charles) Parker and Goldie (Garnie) Clevenger; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Janie Burns and Edna Rambo; and a brother-in-law: Roscoe Carter.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Sunday in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Mark Starnes, Rev. Walter Moore, and Rev. Ralph Harvey officiating.

Interment will be in Providence Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Strong, Eric Lutz, Robbie Reynolds, Randy Reynolds, Gary Carter, and D.J. Rambo.
