

James enjoyed hunting and fishing and riding his Harley and Gold Wing.
He had a big heart and tried his best to help anyone he could and was true to his faith.
He was born in West Virginia. He was the son of the late Edward Clayton Crook and Lois Farley Freshour. He is preceded in death by a loving son: Edward Clay Crook “Eddie” who was the light of his life.
He is survived by the love of his life: his wife Essie Mae Crook. They were happily married for 41 years.
Although Jame sand Essie had no children of their own, James was a wonderful step-father to Glenn Whitlock (Kimberly) of NC and Wendy Smith of KY; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren that loved him very much; brother: John Crook (Linda) of Limestone, TN; his nephews: J. W. Crook (Kim) of Mosheim and Shawn Crook (Christi) of Greeneville.

The family will receive friends from 11-2 pm Monday at Kiser-Roe Hill Funeral Home with the service to follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel. His brother John Crook and Rev. Paul Winchester will officiate. Interment will be held at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens after the services.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
