

He was born on April 19, 1940 in Marlow, KY. He moved to Greeneville in 1980.
Mr. Howard retired from U.S. Army. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He was a member of the 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. He retired in 1980 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. He flew helicopters in the Vietnam War.
He attended the First Church of God of Greeneville and Campground Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma J. Howard; two daughters: Gina Hamrick of Lawrenceville, GA and Shari Scott (Jerry) of Nashville; a son, Michael Howard (Sheryl) of Knoxville; grandchildren: Greg Hamrick (Courtney), Felicia Liwosz (Bryce), Joshua Howard (Erica), Amber Scott, and Bethany Scott (Daniel); great grandchildren: Abby Liwosz, Lucas Liwosz, Emmy Liwosz, Jaiden Scott, Autumn Howard, Levi Hamrick, and Zoe Howard; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives from Eastern Kentucky, Middle Kentucky, and Greeneville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Howard; mother, Bernie Howard; brothers, Walter Howard and Roger Howard; and sisters, Jean Adkins and Wanda Kinser.
The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 pm Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will then be held in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Larry Pike and Rev. Gerald Rudd will officiate.
Following the service, interment will be held at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. A military graveside service will be conducted.
