He was retired from the AFG Plant in Kingsport. Polk was a member of Pyburn FWB Church where he attended as long as his health permitted. He loved going to church and serving the Lord in many ways. He was also a very avid farmer.
James “Polk” Rector served in the U.S. Army. He was a World War II Veteran.
You never saw Mr. Rector when he didn’t have a smile on his face.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Linda (Mike) Gragg, Dwayne (Mary) Rector, and Gary (Linda) Rector; grandchildren, Amber (Jesse) Rector, Deana (Eric) Cutshall, James (Kesha) Rector, Andrew Gragg, Dustin Rector, Geordyn (Dakota) Williams, Katelynn Rector, Austin Rector, Brandon Hall; nine great grandchildren, Maddi, Ian, Easton, Kova, Maelan, Mallory, Case, Jacob, Joshua; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Rector Shipley, Blanche Huckaby, Cheryl (Harry) Middleton, Debra (Bobby) Scott, and Angel (Rick) Eads.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Georgia Middleton Rector; one infant son; parents Warnie and Naomi Rector; brothers, Harold (Lilly) Rector and Bobbie Rector.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 4-7pm at Pyburn Free Will Baptist Church on the Horton Hwy. The service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Jonathan Jones officiating.
Interment will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11am at Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at Pyburn FWB Church at 10am to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Crawford, James Rector, Dustin Rector, Austin Rector, Brandon Hall, Eric Cutshall, and Dakota Williams.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Barbara Britton, Leslie Zaragoza; Barbara A. Britton, Theresa and Frank Macmahan, Jessica Jones, Kathy Crawford, and the staff of Amedisys Home, Health, and Hospice.
