James was born in Jefferson County on Sept. 18, 1950.
Survivors include his wife: Mary Valentine of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Jammie and Dewayne Shelton of Spillcorn, North Carolina; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Isaac Valentine and Nathan and Sasha Valentine, all of Morristown; two stepsons and a step daughter-in-law: Alan Dingus and Michael and Jacqui Dingus of the home; grandchildren: Alexis, Jaelyn, Josiah, Paxton; step grandchildren: Madison, Hailee, Abygail Dingus, Damen Cremins, and A.J. Mack; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Polly and Bill Carter, and Betty Strange; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Bobby and Sandra Valentine and Billy Valentine; sister-in-law: Patricia Valentine; nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was the son of the late Eulas and Cora (Stuart) Valentine and was preceded in death by a son: James Edward Valentine Jr.; a wife: Kayla Dixon Valentine; two brothers: Thomas Valentine and Charles Valentine; a sister and brother-in-law: Louise and L.V. Gregg; a brother-in-law: James “Dexter” Strange; and a niece: Mary Hoglen.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff and doctors of Laughlin Memorial Hospital and Caris Home Health.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Ray’s Chapel Church in Cocke County with Nathan Valentine officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 12:30pm to go in procession to the church for the funeral service
Interment will follow in Ray’s Chapel Cemetery in Cocke County.
Pallbearers will be Billy and Sammy Valentine, Bobby and Jason Valentine, David Carter, and Michael Dingus.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nancy Barboza, Linda Parman, Tracie Valentine, Jacqui Dingus, Selena Barboza, Isabel Rojas, Kirsten Parman, and KayLee Valentine.
