

She was a Registered Nurse Instructor. She retired from the College of Nursing at Walters State Community College. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught in the nursery for several years.
Jewell is survived by her husband: Silas Maxwell; son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Cheryl Maxwell of Mosheim; daughter and son-in-law: Jewell Annette and Michael Briggs of Knoxville; two grandchildren: Jessie Briggs of Nashville and Aaron Briggs of Knoxville; one sister: Mildred Blair of Dacula, Georgia; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Nelson and Shirley Maxwell of Portland, Oregon, Alton and Debbie Maxwell of Nashville, Pearl Huffman of Mosheim, Flossie Maxwell of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a daughter of the late Jessie and Trula Weigel and was preceded in death by two brothers: Hubert and Hershel Weigel; two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Ogle and Margaret Cline.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home preceding the service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Joey Tillery will officiate. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. It is requested that family and friends meet at GreeneLawn at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday for the committal service.
