

He was a carpenter and a farmer.
Mr. Norton was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
He was an avid coon hunter, Braves fan, friend to all and never met a stranger. He loved to trick people and tell jokes.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Shirley Dean Norton; son and daughter-in-law: Wesley and Debbie Norton; grandchildren: Eric Metcalf and wife, Cara, and Allen Norton; a sister: Annie June Davis; one brother: Furman Norton, all of Greeneville; sister-in-law: Wanda Arrington; brothers-in-law: Arnold Massey and wife, Jerelene, Lynn Massey and wife, Janie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the son of the late S. V. and Hattie Cross Norton and was preceded in death by a sister, Magnalene Valentine; several half-brothers and half-sisters; a brother-in-law, Shelby Davis; and a sister-in-law: Patricia Norton.
The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Piney Grove FWB Church with Rev. Junior Shipley and Rev. Raymond Perry officiating.
Interment will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Darnell, Darryl Cantrell, George Cantrell, Frankie Tarlton, Jeff Darnell, and Billy Ricker.
