Joe’s towering stature may have been intimidating to some, but those closest to him knew him as a kind, loving, and giving man.
Joe was married to “the most amazing woman in the world,” Vivian, for 53 years. Together they had 3 children David married to Dana Cutshaw Peake, Susan married to Tim Beddingfield, and Stephen married to Stephanie Adams Peake. Joe loved his children and unashamedly loved his 8 grandchildren with great enthusiasm- Adam Parton, Phebe and Dawson Peake, Daniel, Grace and Eli Beddingfield, and Addison and Averi Peake.
Joe was proud of his 19 years of service in the United States Navy. He was a Navy diver and had earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Joe is widely known in the community through his years of ownership of Greeneville Auto Parts.
Joe was a faithful member of Stone Dam United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted. Known for his strong faith in the Lord, Joe was unafraid to speak of the things that matter most in this life- family and a faith that would keep family together for eternity.
Joe taught his children and grandchildren to be proud of their name and to keep the integrity of that name by being people of their word. If Joe gave you his word, you could count on it.
The family wants everyone to remember Joe as a funny, generous and unforgettable soul. He loved greatly and was greatly loved. Joe often showed his love with big bear hugs and always with a smile. He impacted many lives. His passing makes heaven sweeter as the days go by.
Joe is survived by Vivian, his above mentioned children and spouses and grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law Bob and Janet Peak, and a sister and brother-in-law Mary and Jim Tate.
