

Originally from Nathalie, VA, Joelene made the Washington, DC area home for nearly 40 years, working as a List Clerk in the Periodical Department of the Review and Herald Publishing Association owned by the Seventh-Day Adventist church. She and her husband retired to Greeneville in 1998 to assist her sister, Nancy, in caring for their aging father.
Joelene and husband Malcolm volunteered many hours weekly for the Greeneville Seventh-Day Adventist Church Community Services Center.
She is survived by her husband: Malcolm Thurlow; her daughter and son-in-law: Deborah Thurlow and Ricardo Cabrera; her step-grandson, David Cabrera; her sister: Nancy Stevens Blankenship; her niece and nephew: Brenda and Kenneth Ray; and her great-nephews: Trace and Jason Ray.
A memorial service will be held at the Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 23.
Immediately after the service, there will be a receiving of friends at the Greeneville Seventh-day Adventist Church Fellowship Hall.
