

He was a Technical Resource Manager at Premium Waters, having graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Agriculture Engineering in 1979.
John was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he had served as elder. He was also a member of member of F&AM Masons Chapter in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a Scout Leader. He also coached baseball and softball and enjoyed camping and fishing. He was the proprietor of the store at Vacation Bible School at First Presbyterian Church for many years.
John is survived by his wife: Cindy Beckett; son and daughter-in-law: John Michael Beckett, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Glendale Heights, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law: Katherine and Justin Gilbert of Parrottsville; stepson and stepdaughter: Michael Woods and Jennie Woods of Greeneville; grandchildren: Hannah Tolley, Nora Beckett, Nathaniel “Nate” Beckett, Lillian Gilbert; father: John W. Beckett of Greeneville; brother: Brian Beckett of Greene County; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew: Josh Beckett of Greeneville; special uncle: John Hashe of Erwin; and a special aunt: Polly Sells of Gray.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Hashe Beckett and a daughter, Dorothy Beckett.
The body is at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday.
The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes preceding the service.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Dan Donaldson officiating.
Interment will follow in Stone Dam Cemetery.
His pallbearers will be Carroll Shephard, Don Myers, Ted Riemer, Carl Martin, Marty Hopson, and Teddy Fillers.
The honorary pallbearers will be Neil Fillers, Steve Brown, Bryan Root, The Gene Olson Sunday School Class, his co-workers at Premium Waters and Dr. Charles Montgomery.
