

Tom was an expediter at Berkline and a member of Jackson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He loved to fish and do gardening in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Ellen Carter; two daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca and Mike Hurst and Joyce and Mike Hawkins of Greene County; three granddaughters: Amanda and spouse Matt Hughes, Courtney Franklin, and Brittney Hawkins; two special great granddaughters: Mattison Hughes and Natalie Gregg; four brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Naomi Carter, Alf Carter, Rex and Phyllis Carter, and Ken and Rita Carter; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Idell and Willie Burnette, Shirley and Loyd Golden, and Patsy and Buddy Hawk; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Dwayne and Pam Morrison;
sisters-in-law: Mary Crane and Patsy Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a son of the late Crawford and Edna Carter and was preceded in death by four brothers: Jack Carter, Bill Carter, George Carter, Wayne Carter; and two sisters: Irene Rupert and Mary Seay.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Jeff Blake and Rev. Chris Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hughes, Doug Renner, Brian Hawk, Todd Hawk, Barry Golden, Garry Golden, Jimmy Rupert, Benny Carter, Clifford Carter, Ralph Carter, Earnest Carter, Doyle Carter, Nathan Carter, Carroll Carter, and Mark Carter.
The Men of Jackson Chapel Church, Bobby Seay, Jackie Seay, Dale Seay, and Hickie Seay will serve as honorary pallbearers.
