

Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and worked at several locations throughout her life.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brooks was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and a former member of the Women of the Moose.
Her family noted that she loved her family, God, cooking and was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild. They said that she was happiest when cooking in the kitchen, going through her many recipes, or visiting family.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Lou Arnez and John Rhea of Greeneville, with whom she made her home; her only granddaughter: Brooke Rhea Williams, who was “the pride and joy of her life” and a grandson-in-law: Mathew Williams; her special caregiver: Angie Hensley, that treated her like her own grandmother; nieces and spouses: Dot Alexander, Etha Kilday, Charlotte Merkel, Wanda Norton, Pam Brown, Karen Guinn, Tina Shepherd, Revonda Johnson and Patricia Mathes; nephews and spouses: Doyle Shepherd, Durward Shepherd, Malcolm Shepherd, DeWayne Shepherd, Caroll Shepherd, Jimmy Dean Coffee; several great nieces and great nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Burnell Lee and Lucretia Johnson Shepherd and was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Allen Taylor Brooks; eight brothers, Carl, Claude, Clyde, Wade, Earnest,Walter, Ike and Ed Shepherd; a sister, Selma Looney; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1 pm Monday, September 28, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Linda Bass officiating.
Interment will follow in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mathew Williams, Durward Shepherd, Kaylon Shepherd, and Jimmy Dean Coffey.
Honorary Pallbearers are Doyle Shepherd and Malcolm Shepherd.
