Lucy Kate Brown

She was a homemaker and the widow of John H. Brown, who died Oct. 16, 2000.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Bales Chapel United Methodist Church.

Her family provided the following statement: "Lucy accepted the Lord at a young age. She was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother. She proudly devoted her life to her family.

"Lucy loved to share stories of days past with her family and friends. Her simple smile gave us strength, her laughter warmed our hearts. We are better for having known her.

"Lucy's kind-hearted spirit will echo in the lives of her many family members and friends."

Survivors include her two daughters: Sharon B. Davis and Linda M. Vandiver; three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law: Tammy and Guy "Tommy" Thompson, Scarlett Vandiver, and Crystal Vandiver; three grandsons and their wives: David Malone, Jimmy and Kimberly Malone, and David Ray and Jessica Vandiver; four great-grandchildren: Taylor Malone, Jada Vandiver, Jacob Malone and Ricky Malone; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Debusk and Emma Debusk; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a daughter of the late William Franklin Debusk and Anna Sue Goodman Debusk and was preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia A. Malone; five brothers: Frank Debusk, Jack Debusk, Tom Debusk, Estel "Red" Debusk, and Virgle "Fatty" Debusk; and a sister: Mary Liza Jones.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will follow visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Wayne Waycaster and the Rev. Richard Tittle will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Ray Vandiver, Guy "Tommy" Thompson, Gordon Jones, Bob Jones, Jay Paul Cooter, and Buddy Crum.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Montgomery, the staff of Caris Hospice, and the nurses and staff of Laughlin HealthCare.
