

She was retired from Magnavox.
Mrs. Hipps was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She will be lovingly remembered for her home being open to family, friends and neighbors.
There was always room for one more plate to be set at her table and plenty of southern hospitality for everyone. Beautiful memories were created by her and will be cherished. She will be greatly missed and a void will remain in our lives.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Phyllis and Gary Arrington; a granddaughter and husband: Brandi and David Glasscock; one brother: H. T. Holt of Afton; sisters-in-law: Carolee Holt of Greeneville, Ollie Bell Vaughn of Nashville, Hannah Arrington of Tappahannock, Virginia, Vevel Hipps of Greeneville, Millie Hipps of Appomattox, Virginia, Joyce Hipps of Evergreen, Virginia, Gertrude Hipps of Cortland, Illinois, Lois Hipps of Anniston, Alabama; brother-in-law: Troy Chandler of Afton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late A. J. and Trula Babb Holt and was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hipps; a sister, Goldean Chandler; and a brother, Leon Holt.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Eddie Malone and Rev. Martha Moore Beamer will officiate.
Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Reynolds, Frank Barwick, Roger Henry, David Glasscock, Ben Melton and David Melton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Montgomery, the staff of Amedysis Home Health and Hospice, the staff of Advantage Home Health, and her special caregivers, Mary Britton, Beatrice Scharhag, Margaret Manuel, Wanda Malone, Chelsey and Shannon Lowe, Tina Wall, and the staff of Heavenly Sunshine Senior Services and her neighbors.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Brandi and David Glasscock, 175 Lee Shelton Lane, Afton.
