Mary Pauline Voiles Garber

Mary was born February 14, 1928. She was a sweet, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She accomplished much in her long life, including being the organizer and first chaplain of the Greeneville chapter of the DAV, working in various capacities with the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1990, and serving as a tour guide at the Andrew Johnson Home. She also earned her LPN license and worked in several medical settings, including local hospitals, nursing homes, and private homes as well as at Greene Valley Developmental Center. She attended Dixon Chapel Church of God as long as her health permitted and always remained a strong prayer warrior.

Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, Solomon M. (Roy) and Violet Jane Bryant Voiles, her husband Lee A. Garber, Sr., her grandson Michael Lee Garber, siblings: Cordelia Bowers, Monroe Voiles, Ina Lee Burchell, Clyde Voiles, Emory Voiles, Floyd Voiles, twin brother Paul Voiles, Mollie Lou Voiles, and Lizzie Woods; and niece and nephew Mary Woods and J.C. Voiles. Special friend Evelyn Graham also preceded her.

Survivors include her children and their spouses Lee A. Garber, Jr. and Kim Garber, Carl and Trish Garber, Portia Garber, and Larry Garber and (fiancé) Cathy Beach; her grandchildren and their spouses Pam and Allen Stapleton, Carla and Paul Todaro, Chad and Ashley Garber, Nathan Peek, Aaron Garber, Andy Garber, and Kendra Lusk ; great-grandchildren: Chandley Cox and husband Andrew, Rachel and Michael Stapleton, Caroline, Ben and Emma Garber, Holli Todaro, and Kole Garber; nieces and nephews: Don Voiles, Jack Voiles, Frances Gray, Kathy Christensen, Gail Bowman, Jimmy Burchell, Dale Burchell, Diane Hill, Roy Lee Voiles, Betty Beck, Reva Masoner, and Willie Voiles; and her sister-in-law, Alice Dotson. Special friends include Barbara Holmes, Betty Kilday, Betty McAmis, Betty Laster, Genevieve Thompson, and Joyce Freeman.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 pm with funeral to follow at 7:00 pm. Reverend Ronald Dodson and Reverend Steve Hux will officiate. Interment will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Willie Voiles, Roy Lee Voiles, Dale Burchell, Glen Beck, Paul Todaro, Aaron Garber and Andy Garber. Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9:15 am Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
