Mickey Yana Wykle Barbely, formerly of Greeneville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at her home in Talbott. She was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed.
Mickey graduated from South Greene High School and Tusculum College. After college, she moved to Washington, D.C. and then to North Carolina where she attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing her graduate studies in mass communications.
Mickey returned to East Tennessee to be near her family. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Morristown, serving as ruling elder, head usher and on the worship committee. Mickey was initiated into Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Chapter AS in 2003 and was a vital part of their organization, serving as President, Vice President and secretary.
Mickey’s work experience includes DMA Group providing leadership and employee development training. She was currently working for Bloomberg L.P.’s business-to-business publications as a highly talented and respected member of the editorial team and with the Jackie Lyles Group as Director of Research for 23 years, where her work benefitted more than 17 million people in 132 countries, from helping 500 homeless people in Houston to find a home to 2,500 doctors to offer the best possible service to children, among many other things. Her coworkers expressed that the world was a better place because she was in it and they are fortunate to have known her love, brilliance and patience and that they will always be grateful for having known her. Mickey was also a past adjunct professor at Walter State Community College, where she was deeply loved by her students.
Mickey was one of the most selfless, giving, caring people you could meet and sacrificed her wants and needs for serving others. She loved all animals, plants and flowers.
Mickey is survived by her loving mother, Polly Wykle, brothers Terry (Jennifer) and David (Tamara) Wykle, all of Greeneville, sister Melanie (Russell) McNutt of Knoxville, nieces Micaela (Josh) Johnson, Ashton Wykle, Rachel Wykle, Kinsley Wykle, Braelyn Wykle, Kara McNutt and nephew Jackson McNutt, great niece Leighton Johnson and her beloved cats Bridgette and Spot. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Wykle and grandparents, Mary and Walter Wykle and Elizabeth and Walter Peters.
Family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. at Kiser Rose-Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
The memorial service will follow at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Feral Feline Friends or to First Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
