

Growing up in Midway, she went to Midway Elementary School and graduated from McDonald High School n 1945. While there, she enjoyed her academic studies, especially algebra and was a member of the basketball team, beginning her enduring love of the sport.
She was a lifelong attendee of Midway United Methodist Church.
A former employee of Austin Tobacco Company, Magnavox, and Greeneville Parks and Recreation, many will remember Mildred as the “Concession- stand lady” of Hardin Park. Ever the sportswoman, she was a member of several company- sponsored and independent bowling and basketball teams.
In later years, she participated in the Tennessee State Senior Games earning a multitude of bronze, silver, and gold metals on both the regional and state level.
Most recently, one could find her playing basketball on Monday evenings at Trinity United Methodist Church gym. Other hobbies included quilting, cooking, song writing, and family history. She created both quilt designs and recipes such as her signature chocolate pies.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 44 years, Jay Roy Hendry and is survived by her son, Randy Jay Hendry; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Wesgan Hendry; two grandsons, William Jason Joseph Hendry and Steven Jay Hendry, all of Marietta, Georgia.
She is also survived by a brother, William Howard Idell of Morristown and two sisters, Alma Ruth “Bitty” Idell Solomon and Omrie Jean Idell Hinkle, both of Midway; several nieces and nephews, all of whom were very dear to her.
Her parents were Henry Corbet Idell and Pearl Lou Lowery Idell. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Lucile Agnes Idell Reagan and Charles Edward Idell and infant brothers and sisters, John Clyde Idell, Iva Mae Idell, and Robert Lawrence Idell.
The funeral service will conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Jerry Holt will officiate. Interment will follow at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Brad Huff, Larry Hurst, Bill Klepper, Derrick Livingston, Calvin Shelton, and Tim Stimey.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the American Red Cross, Greene County Chapter, 218 N. Main St., Greeneville, TN 37745.
