

John Boy was born in Flag Pond, TN on February 18, 1949. He was one of 15 children and was a farmer. Mr. Shelton was a member of Lord’s Tabernacle Church where he attended faithfully as long as his health permitted. He lived in Greene County for the past 19 years, with Enhanced Support Services and Mountain Visions, where over the years he made many special friends that he loved.
He is survived by three brothers: Rev. Raymond Shelton and wife Helen of Greeneville, Warner and Verna Shelton of Georgia, Jerry Shelton of Erwin; two sisters: Lois Graybeal of Erwin, and Glenda Huff and husband David of Lexington, KY; beloved niece Robin Shepherd who saw to his needs for the past 19 years. Robin and her husband Gary took him on many trips and outings that he enjoyed very much. Several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and special friends with whom he made his home: Michael Mann and Darrell Gibson; his staff workers: Mekasha Redford. Cassie Campbell, Gary Owens, Aysha Redford, Paige Perry and many others who worked with him through the years; his Enhanced managers: Lisa Poff, Kara Taylor, Debbie Legg, Kelley Visage, Rebecca Casey, Jessica Johnson and Allison Fields; special friends and neighbors Ronald and Sharon English, Charles and Diane Ricker and Lou Barnes, Barber Dolye Tunnell, Terry and Becky Haynes and Lucille Renner.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Ervin and Theora Shelton; his twin sister: Flora Shelton, Roland Shelton, Willard Shelton, Myrtle Wilder, Beulah Turner, Gerald Shelton, Clarice Harris, Bernice Silvers and Rev. Buster Shelton.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 and 4-6 pm Thursday, June 11 at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 6:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Harley Greene and Evangelist Brian Burchfield will officiate. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin, TN on Friday, June 12 at 11:30 am. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the interment.
Pallbearers will be: Dwayne Wyatt, Mitch Shelton, Gary Owens, Michael Shelton, Gary Helbert, Ricky Ball, Doug Justice and Junior Seaton.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Kyle Harris and all members of Lord’s Tabernacle Church, Dr. Valerie Mullins and Staff and Dr. James Goss and staff.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their support and a special thanks to Lisa Carter for her love, care and support.
