
He was retired from Magnavox and a farmer.
Mr. Jones was of the Methodist tradition of faith.
He had been in declining health for several months, but only at the very end of his struggle did he allow himself to be enveloped by a close circle of his wife, children, their spouses, grandchildren, great granddaughter, and a very devoted and special caregiver who was thought of as a son, Buddy Massey.
He was allowed to pass from the earth in his own home, being cradled by his children and holding to the hand of his faithful, loving daughter, who has been a constant caregiver to him until he took his last breath, June.
Survivors include his wife: Emma Ruth Jones; a son and daughter-in-law: Billy Joe and Betty Ann Jones of Chuckey; three daughters and one son-in-law: Sharlene and Ray Gregg, June Jones, and Brenda Jones, all of Greeneville; grandsons: Joshua and Jeremy Jones, Michael Gregg, Derrick and spouse, Heather Randolph great granddaughter: Rayonna Gregg; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Norma and David Rader of Chuckey, Ella Webb, Irene Blake, and Junior Reaves, all of Greeneville; sisters-in-law: Gwondola Anderson and Polly Harrison of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews.
He was a son of the late Joseph and Cora Bishop Jones and was preceded in death by a son: Doyle David Jones; grandson: Chad Gregg; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ottis and Almedia Mercer Jones, Vern Jones, Roma Lee Reaves; brothers-in-law: Lester Blake and Edward Webb; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Elisha and Donnie Shelton and M.M. Harrison; and two very special friends: Doyle Harrison and Kenny Jones.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February25, 2011, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Rev. Doug Jennings will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Doug Reaves, David Reaves, Johnny Reaves, Larry Rader, Terry Rader, Lynn Webb, Ronnie Blake, Jack Blake, Joshua Jones, Michael Gregg, and Jeremy Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Reaves, David Keys, Charles Walters, and his former co-workers in the maintenance department at Philips Consumer Electronics.
There will be no formal visitation or services. It is requested for friends that would like to attend the graveside service meet at the cemetery by 4:00 p.m. Friday. Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
