

He retired as a mechanical design/engineering consultant after 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a Master Mason and a 32nd Degree Shriner.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a big fan of Tennessee Football.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years: Laura Furches; sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Oydun Furches, Danny and Trish Furches, and Douglas Furches; daughters and son-in-law: Linda and Wayne Hatfield and Lisa Furches; grandchildren: Alissa, Sara, and Sofia Furches and Lily and Audrey Hatfield; brother and sister-in-law: Charlie and Helen Furches; brother-in-law: Carlos Bailey; sister-in-law: Loretta Furches; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bobby Cordle, Tommy Cordle, Frank Cordle, Ann Cordle, Lucille Cordle. and Essie Tuggle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin VanBuren and Dollie Broyles Furches; two sisters: Jane Bailey and Claudine Bailey; and a brother: Gordon Furches.
The family will have a Celebration of Life service from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military service. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
