He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
Mr. Reed was a member of River Hill United Methodist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post #1990.
Survivors include his daughter: Sherry J. Edwards of Greeneville; daughter-in-law: Virginia Reed of Davisburg, Michigan;
four grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law: Donald Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mike and Felita Reed of Greeneville, Mark and Jessica Reed of Davisburg, Michigan, and Jeffrey Reed of Redmond, Washington; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother: John Reed of Greeneville; sister: Willie Brumley of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Charles Edward and Lula Rebecca Bible Reed and was preceded in death by his wife: Donna Reed; a son: Jimmy Reed; and seven brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5 at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Richard Waddle officiating.
Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
His pallbearers will be Edward Reed, Dwayne Reed, John Reed Jr., Jack Reed, Charles Brumley, and Glenn Cope.
His grandsons, men of River Hill United Methodist Church, and Dr. John Shaw will serve as honorary pallbearers.
