He was a farmer.
Mr. Nevius was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Corp of Engineers, and was a member of the Angus Association and the Greeneville Hiking Club.
He was born in New Jersey, graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in geology, and had worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Survivors include a daughter: Virginia Williams of Greeneville; one son: Michael Nevius of Knoxville; one sister: Bette Castlow of New Jersey; one niece: Jane Czaplicki of New Jersey; four nephews: David Nevius, Mark Castlow, Gary Castlow, and Jeff Castlow.
He was the son of the late A. D. and Etta Dix Nevius and was preceded in death by his wife,
Willie Ruth Nevius; three brothers, Francis, Howard, and A. D. Nevius, Jr.
The body will be cremated. There will be no formal visitation or service.
