Rev. Rickie Stevie Bowser

He was born in Rock Island, IL on December 13, 1955. He was the son of the late Archie Bowser and Emma Debbie Holland Bowser. He resided in the Jonesborough area for most of his life.

Rickie was a member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church for 40 years. In those years, he served as a preacher, adult Sunday school teacher, assistant pastor, and pastor.

He worked for the Kingsport Brickyard and Moreflow in Johnson City. He enjoyed watching wrestling with his brother, Berthil, and spending time with friends and family, especially his granddaughters and great-grandson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lucille Sue Penley Bowser; his brother, Donald Ray Bowser; sister, Rosella Sherfey; and his stepmother, Mattie Bowser.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Pamela (Rodney) Wendling, and Heather (Barry) Lawson and son Douglas (Nikki Rae Lucas) Bowser; brothers, Berthil (Karen) Bowser and Sam Bowser; sisters, Barbara Rector and Nadine (Jim) Beck; two granddaughters, Brittany Wendling (Jacob Adams) and Bailee Janay Lawson; and one great-grandson Nathaniel Adams.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville, TN.

The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church at 12pm, officiated by Rev. Rex Miller and Rev. Clifford Dalton. Music will be provided by Rita and Lauren Byers, Rev. Rex Miller, and church members.

Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Adams, Jim Beck, Jonathon Beck, Douglas Bowser, Eric Bowser, Scott Bowser, Brent Penley, and Troy Penley.

Honorary Pallbearers are Berthil Bowser, Sam Bowser, Barry Lawson, Clint Penley, Darrin Sherfey, Roger Sherfey, and Rodney Wendling.

Special mentions for Bonnie (Penley) Guy, Bob Simpson, and Darrin Sherfey.
