Mrs. Ruth Elmira Hall

Mrs. Ruth Elmira Hall, 91, of Greeneville, passed from death to eternal life at her home surrounded by children and grandchildren on April 12, 2019. She was born June 20, 1927 as the second child to the late Walter P. and Rosa Estella Wagner, and the step-daughter of the late Monnie Flack Wagner. She was married to the late Daniel R. Hall Sr. in 1948 and from this union were born 12 children.

Miss Ruth, as she was affectionately called by many who knew her, graduated from the George Clem School as salutatorian of the class of 1945. She began working as a child, serving breakfast at Holston Methodist Home for Children. She then continued her employment at the Capital Soda Grill, Brumley Hotel, and Foxes Hospital before beginning a long career at Magnavox. She left Magnavox after many years and accepted a position with Greene Valley Developmental Center, where she worked until her retirement in 1990. Upon retirement, she enjoyed taking morning walks, talking with friends in her community, working in her church, taking care of her flower gardens, traveling and caring for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Hall Sr.; two sons, Daniel R. Hall Jr. and Anthony L. ‘Tony' Hall; a grandson, Cobey S. Hall; a great grandchild Jamise Hall; and her siblings: Kathryn McDowell, Wilma Wagner, Mary Olivia Payne, Pearl Wagner, and John Ellis Wagner.

Survivors include her children: William Edward Hall of Greeneville, Amy L. Hall of Livonia, Michigan, Mary E. Hall of Greeneville, Ada Hall Jackson of Decatur, Alabama, Walter F. Hall of Johnson City, George F. Hall of Greeneville, Roberta K. Hall of Johnson City, Robert A. Hall Sr., John Brent Hall (Greta) and Phillip P. Hall (Bardella), all of Greeneville; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; her two sisters, Norma Jean Cox and Shelia Wagner Davis of Morristown; two brothers, Alfred Wagner and Arnett Wagner of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Sylvia Bowers; nieces; nephews; in-laws; and dear friends.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Cecil C. Mills Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Jesse Barner, Dean Barner, Matthew Barner, Andrew Hardy, Thomas Eason, and Billy Dabbs.

Honorary Pallbearers are Robert ‘Pete’ Lollar, Eddie Joe Anderson, Larry Anderson, Donald Hamilton, Kenneth Blakely, Willie Anderson, Arnez Price, Danny Smalls, and Dr. Richard Aasheim.

Flowerbearers will be Mammaw’s granddaughters.

Honorary Flowerbearers are Hattie Bryant Missionary Circle and the Bessie Combs Missionary Circle, Barbara Peeler, Jenna Lee Rollins, Fannie Mae Jones, Treva Edmonds, Scegeant Price, Janice Gudger and JoAnn Gudger.
