Steven Louis Massey

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” He never complained throughout all of his illness, though he stayed in constant pain. He attended Christian Heritage Church as long as his health permitted.

He was a Vietnam veteran and was proud to have served his country. He retired from Greene County Highway Department.

Survivors include his loving wife and soulmate of 31 years: Vickie Ricker Massey; sisters: Peggy and David Carter of Florida, Rosie and Bobby Byrd, and Sue and David Snyder; brothers: Ronnie and Nancy Massey, Joe Massey and Marilyn, Terry and Carolyn Massey, Mike and Debbie Massey, and Teddy Massey of Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Wayne and Brenda Ricker; aunt, Elizabeth Bible; special friends: Kenneth Matthews, Mary Pennington, Karen and Owen Lynch, Melissa Matthews, Lynn Ricker, Donnie and Debbie Craft, Mary Swanson, Phyllis Massey, Larry and Pat Massey, Gary and Linda Massey of South Carolina, Tim Watts, Tim Neas, C.E. Turner, Stan Neal, Kevin Ramsey, Eric Rupert, Blossom Carter, Eugene Greene, and past and present employees of the Greene County Highway Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessey and Alta Ricker Massey; brothers: Tim, Roy “Buddy”, and Chet Massey; sister, Carol Nelson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: W.T. and Faye Ricker.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bo Ragon and Rev. Eddie Malone officiating. The Greene County Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Military Reserve will conduct a military service preceding the funeral service.

Following the funeral services, the body will be cremated.
