Sylvia Tunac Castro Lopez was born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on April 21, 1940, and passed away peacefully at home in Greeneville, Tennessee, with her beloved husband, Andy Lopez, by her side. After a long illness, she now rests in Jesus, awaiting His soon return.
Sylvia will be deeply missed by her family and all who loved her. Her beautiful smile, outgoing personality, love of flowers, cooking, and treasured diamond-dot artwork will always be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Carmi Lopez; her brothers, Artemio Castro and Eduardo Borja; and her parents, Camilo Castro and Emelia Tunac Castro.
She is survived by her husband, Aniceto “Andy” Lopez; son, Harold Lopez (Angela, fiancée); daughter, Anne Andrus (Les); grandchildren, Shauna Fortson (Matt), Courtney Lopez (Jeremy, fiancée), Matthew Frias, Jason Frias (Jackie), and Lillybeth Andrus; sister, Nancy Cariaga; and many extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Her faith in God and hope in the soon coming of Jesus were precious to her, and we hold tightly to the promise that one day soon, we will see her again. Until that glorious morning, we look forward to the day when Jesus returns, “in the twinkling of an eye,” the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised, and we will be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:52)
