

He was a truck driver.
Mr. Dean was a member of Greeneville Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Jeanetta Dean; two sons: Michael Dean and Randy Dean, both of Afton; a special daughter-in-law: Robin Dean Jennings; grandchildren: Jessica Burns and husband, Justin, Bryan Dean, Haley Dean, Andrea Dean, Cooper Dean; two great grandchildren: Kaylie Burns and Addison Dean; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Mable Dean, Kenneth and Nancy Dean, Roy “Merlin” and Kathy Dean, all of Greene County; Johnny “Hal” Dean of Bloomington, Illinois; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Lena Jones and husband, Richard and Juanita Harrison, all of Greene County; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Eudema and David Gregory, Louise and Johnny Sparks, Lawrence and Patsy Shelton, all of Greene County; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
He was the son of the late John and Cleo Dean and was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Lynn Dean; one sister, JoAnn Murdock; a brother, Rev. James Dean; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Susie Shelton.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Hubert Metcalf and Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Interment will follow at B. E. Shelton Cemetery in Marshall, North Carolina.
Pallbearers will be Gerry Long, Ronnie Mallory, Doc Norton, Willie Wilds, Jason Dean, Dwayne Dean, and Terry Dean.
Honorary pallbearers will be his “truck driving buddies”.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
