For 35 beautiful years, Tony was the beloved husband and steadfast partner to Nadia Mora, sharing a journey filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. As a father, Tony’s pride and joy were his daughters Katie Mora and Leanna (Nathan) Lehotsky. He embraced fatherhood with quiet strength and boundless affection, always putting his family and his girls first. He was the ultimate ‘girl dad’ and his life was a testament to devotion and kindness.
He beamed with pride at Leanna and Nathan’s wedding this past summer, and never missed a moment of Katie’s hockey, always choosing her games over the NHL any day without hesitation. Tony’s love was a gift that touched everyone who knew him, and he found immense joy in the simple moments, cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories, and celebrating life’s milestones.
Family meant everything to him. He was a caring brother to Enzo (Bruna) and Tina (Ian) Mora, and a proud uncle to Ryan (Dorothy), Christopher, Stephen (Karen), Audriana, and Nicholas (Michelle) DiRuzza. His warmth extended to his brother-in-law Aldo (Patty) DiRuzza, bonus sister-in-law Sly Castaldi, and was deeply loved by his many cousins, extended family, friends and especially his adored grandpup Archie.
Tony’s roots ran deep, shaped by the values of his late parents, Gaetano and Yolanda Mora. Their lessons of hard work, humility, and family were evident in every aspect of Tony’s life. For 43 years, he dedicated himself to Loblaws, earning respect for his reliability and integrity. He taught his daughters the meaning of commitment, not through words but through the example he set every day. He was the family’s go-to, whose generosity and reliability were constants making him an anchor to everyone around him.
His strength was legendary, never meeting an object he couldn’t lift, a project he couldn’t build, or something he couldn’t fix. He was always ready to help without fanfare or expectation, showing kindness, humility, and endless patience. His strength was a strength that quietly filled every room, always the first to offer a smile, give someone a drink, or lend a helpful hand making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Nature was his sanctuary. He found ultimate peace at the cottage, sleeping in his Boler to be closer to the outdoors and relished barbecuing and making wood-fired pizzas under the open sky. Whether kayaking Lake Huron or the Speed River, he would always soak in the quiet beauty around him making sure to share those moments with those he loved the most.
Even in the face of illness, Tony’s strength, grace and positivity never wavered. He met his cancer diagnosis with courage and determination, reminding his family in his final days that he was a lucky man with no regrets. His life was rich in love, purpose, and meaning.
Tony’s legacy lives on in the strength of his family, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself. He was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Fly with the angels, Tony. The night sky shines a little brighter because of you. Until we meet again, forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
With heartfelt gratitude to the sixth-floor team at Grand River Hospital (Waterloo Regional Health Network).
