Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Faithful Servant of God
September 16th, 1936 – July 3rd, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our cherished matriarch, Cecilia Irene Hummel, who departed this world peacefully at home on July 3rd, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.
Cecilia was the embodiment of grace, compassion, and quiet strength. A devoted member of the Catholic Women's League, she lived her life in deep, unwavering faith. Her rosary was never far from her hands, and her heart was always full of prayers — for her family, for friends, for strangers, and for the world. Cecilia didn’t just believe in the power of prayer; she lived it every single day.
She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence Bernard Hummel, and together they built a loving, faith-filled life centered on family, community, and God. Cecilia was the proud and loving mother of Marilyn (Ron) Kreutzer, Tom (Judy) Hummel, Jim (Val) Hummel, Mark (Connie) Hummel, Mary (Carl) Dawson, and Andy Hummel.
She was a cherished grandmother to Cheryl, Peter, Adam, Trevor, Kimberly, Collin, Cassandra, Crystal, Steven, Jarrett, Dylan, and Luke. Her love reached into the next generation as a proud great-grandmother to Nevaeh, Zayden, Keegan, Kendall, Grae, Connor, Kinsley, Kira, Kane, Charlotte, and Abigale. Each grandchild and great-grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she never missed a birthday, celebration, or opportunity to share her boundless love and encouragement. Cecilia is also lovingly survived by her dear sister, Evelyn (John) Burton, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and devotion.
Her devotion to the Church was not just spiritual but active. Cecilia was a tireless supporter of religious charities, always giving to the poor and those in need, never seeking recognition — only hoping to ease someone else’s burden. Her faith guided her, and her kindness defined her. She was the kind of soul who would give you her last dollar, her warmest smile, and her most sincere blessing — all in the same breath.
She had the heart of a saint and the humor of an old friend. With a twinkle in her eye, she was always quick with a witty remark or a perfectly timed joke. Cecilia loved a good laugh, a good game of bingo, and the occasional scratch ticket — all with that mischievous grin we’ll never forget.
Cecilia found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Her garden was her sanctuary — a place she lovingly tended with pride and patience. Her flowers bloomed as vibrantly as her spirit, and her backyard was alive with birds, chipmunks, and squirrels she fed daily, speaking to each as if they were dear friends she named Joey. Nature, like people, flourished under her care.
She gave everything — her time, her love, her prayers — freely and fully. She never thought of herself first. That was Cecilia: selfless, thoughtful, endlessly generous.
Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in our lives, but her love continues to guide us. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and laughter — values she instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Cecilia Irene Hummel was more than a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the heart of our family. And while we grieve deeply, we are grateful beyond words for the years we were blessed to share with her.
