It is with great sadness that we announce that Elizabeth (Liz) Kaufman passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the age of 95. Predeceased by her loving husband, Richard (Dick, 2022). Beloved mother of Diane (Glenn Carey) and Janet (Dave Hodgson). Proud grandmother of Kevin and Christopher Carey, Leanne (Ryan Fantham) and Laura (Daniel Brodie). Cherished great grandma of Carter and Lila Fantham, and Miles and Lincoln Brodie who all brought her so much joy in her later years. Survived by her dear twin sister Rita Spence, brother-in-law Don Smith, and sister-in-law Shirley Oliver. Predeceased by her sisters, Gloria Buckley, Mary Reinhart and Agnes Smith and her brothers-in-law, Bob Buckley, John Spence and Ed Reinhart. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Born on a farm in Goderich, Ontario, Liz learned the value of hard work at an early age from her parents, Leo and Mary Chisholm. Life on the farm shaped a strong work ethic that carried throughout her life. Beyond the farm, the beach on beautiful Lake Huron was her favourite place.
After graduating high school at age 16, Liz moved to London and began working at Emco Limited where she met her future husband, Dick. They were married in 1952 and celebrated their 70th anniversary shortly before he passed away. After taking time to raise her daughters, Liz returned to work as a bookkeeper at Ranger Metal Products in Guelph, and later as an accounts payable clerk at the Wellington County Board of Education.
A devoted bridge player, Liz played for many years with the Guelph Bridge Club and up until recently at the retirement home. The game brought her friendship, challenge, and laughter, and she loved the companionship of those around the card table.
Liz and Dick liked to travel and took many memorable vacations throughout Canada, Europe and the U.S. They especially enjoyed the drive to Florida for many winters.
Liz will be remembered for her sharp mind and her unwavering love for family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Sincere thanks to the staff at Wellington Park retirement home and Hospice Wellington for their wonderful care.
