It is with profound sadness that Evelyn’s family announces her passing on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Guelph General Hospital, in her 96th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Richard (Dick) Bolton.
Evelyn was a loving mother to Deborah (Jim), Sharon (John), and Richard (Carol), and a proud grandmother to Justin (Bianca), Jordan (Lauren), James, and Sarah (Josh). She absolutely adored her great-grandchildren, Walker, Rowen, Wesley, Bodhi, and Arthur. Evelyn is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Harold Duffin, Nancy and Donald Turner, Joan and Desmond Aitken, Mary and William Thompson, and Patricia and John Hope.
Evelyn’s happy place was the family cottage in Temagami, where for over 50 years her family created countless treasured memories. She was a longtime member of the Temagami Lakes Association. Her interests included gardening, knitting, cooking and cooking shows, and watching English programs, especially Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey. Evelyn had a sweet tooth for chocolate.
Raised in Toronto, Evelyn worked at Eaton’s before starting her family with Dick. Family was everything to Evelyn, and she devoted her life to those she loved.
Evelyn was the heart of our family; she was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can ever express. Her love, kindness, and presence shaped our lives, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace, Mom.
Cremation has been entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home in Guelph, Ontario. In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, no funeral service or celebration of life will be held.
