He joins his beloved wife of nearly 40 years, Lucy (2024), in eternal rest. He leaves behind his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Sara and Ángel, and Sofia and Alex. Joe is survived by his mother-in-law Bruna, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members in both Canada and Italy. He will also be deeply missed by his grandpuppy, Ella. Predeceased by his loving mother Maria Franceschina, father Salvatore, sister Salvatorina, brother-in-law Luigi, and father-in-law Bruno.
Joe immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1966 and began working at his cousin Franco’s barbershop when it opened in 1967. He enjoyed over 60 years of barbering between Italy and Canada, meeting hundreds of people along the way and sharing in their everyday life moments, both good and bad. He could remember a face decades after initially meeting someone, as well as the stories they shared with him. He also had the pleasure and honour of cutting multiple generations of family’s hair. He was forever proud of this, and this was a huge part of his identity. We will forever cherish his memories and stories of the happenings at the barbershop.
Our dear Papà was swept into a life of further excitement after marrying the love of his life, Lucy, and welcoming their daughters. Together, they built their home, enjoyed many road trips throughout North America and Europe over the summers and powered through years of gardening and wine making. Through this, they shared many laughs and much joy. He also loved being able to share in these moments with his sons-in-law when they joined the family.
Joe appreciated all of the little things in life. He was the least materialistic man we knew. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, sharing wonderful food and homemade vino, all the while reminiscing on special moments with his loved ones. He prided himself on the beautiful house he built with his wife and all the wonderful memories that followed thereafter. His generosity, quick wit, and kind-heartedness left a lasting impression on those whose lives he touched.
We are forever grateful for all of the love and support from close family and friends during these challenging times. Our deepest thanks to his wonderful home and healthcare team for their support during his time of need.
