Predeceased by his parents Harold and Joan Floto, he is survived by his sister Jill Airhart and brothers Mike (Marg), Jeff (Wanda) and Vic (Jane) and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and “greats”. Gordon was 72.
Although Gord was limited in his ability to communicate, he made his affection for family and friends known and enjoyed their company. He was always smiling, whether watching a Blue Jays game, the Maple Leafs or pointing out horses grazing in a pasture or a train passing by. Gord loved to swim and happily engaged in arts and crafts, music sessions and church services at Forest Heights long term care home where he spent his final years. Family celebrations were special to him as were those who cared for him. His family appreciates that Gord was blessed with the kindness and love provided by caregivers Cathy Bieman and Maureen Jordan. Thanks also to Jim Reist and his late wife Ruthann for the many years of caring for Gord like a family member in their group home, supported by Katie Hagedorn and Terral McBay and more recently, the staff at Forest Heights for their support and care. Gord will be missed and always cherished by his family and caregivers.
