Jim was the beloved husband of Lynda (Cole) Carlson. He was a devoted father to David (Ann) Carlson, Douglas (Tara) Carlson, and Debra (Rod) Morgan, and a caring stepfather to Jason (Antonella) Rapsey and Kimberley (Edwyn) Visser. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Tyler Carlson, Aaron Carlson, Bret Carlson, Dana Carlson, Amanda Morgan, Bradley Morgan, Daniel Morgan, Daniel Rapsey, and Cole Visser, and a cherished great-grandfather to five precious great-grandchildren, Kenna, Jackson, Wayne, Owen, Finn.
Born in Kenora, Ontario, on December 22, 1935, Jim was the son of the late Harry Norman Carlson and Esme (Burton) Carlson. He was predeceased by his sisters Norma and Olive, and will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Linda and Pat.
Jim’s greatest joy in life was his family — his family at home, his church family, his community family, and his many dear friends. A true social butterfly, Jim was always ready with a funny joke, a warm smile, and a welcoming spirit that drew people to him wherever he went.
He had a deep love of travel and adventure, exploring wonderful destinations including Hawaii, the Caribbean, an Alaskan cruise, and the Mediterranean — even visiting the pyramids. Most recently, he enjoyed a memorable European river cruise. These travels brought him great happiness and many treasured memories.
For 34 years, Jim lived in Campbellville on 10 beautiful acres surrounded by horses, dogs, cats, and abundant wildlife — a life he truly loved. In 2016, he and Lynda moved to Guelph with his beloved German Shepherd, Mia.
Jim will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, especially his devoted family. His laughter, kindness, and joyful presence will remain in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 13 at 12:00 noon at St. George’s Anglican Church, 4691 Palladium Way, Burlington, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. George’s Anglican Church – Burlington would be greatly appreciated.
