Jeannine Fernande Rota

Jeannine passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the General Hospital in Guelph, Ontario in her 89th year. Jeannine was predeceased only 29 days earlier by her husband of 69 years, Victor Rota. She was pre-deceased by her parents Camile (Cam) Brunette and Rita Brunette (née Mantha). She leaves behind her loving daughter Deborah Belisle (née Rota); her son-in-law Jean-Louis; her three grandsons, Andre, Joel, and Daniel Belisle, whom she adored; and three great-grandchildren, Marc, Madeline, and Marielle. She is also survived by her six siblings: Helen Randle (Peter, pre-deceased), Maurice Brunette (Barbara), Annette Corbeil (Rene, pre-deceased), Raymond Brunette (Jewell Ann, pre-deceased), Andre Brunette (Gillian, pre-deceased), and Claude Brunette (Nat). She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, to whom she was known affectionately as Aunt Nin.

Jeannine was born in North Bay, Ontario, on August 7, 1936. She married her lifelong partner in October of 1956. They lived in the east end of North Bay all their lives until they moved to Guelph to be closer to family in 2022. Jeannine retired in 2001 from Canadore College after many years of service. She was an active parishioner for many decades of Holy Name of Jesus Parish. She was an exceptional knitter, seamstress, baker, and cook, whose blueberry pies, meatballs, and pasta sauce will be missed by all. She was always up for playing a card game, and her grandchildren will miss laughing with her around the kitchen table.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses on the seventh floor of Guelph General Hospital for all their understanding and compassion.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home. There will be a Funeral Service at All Saints Mausoleum (128 Golf Club Rd. North Bay) on the 8th day of August 2025 at 1:00 pm. Entombment to follow.
