Judith Anne Basher

One of six siblings, she was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her—her vibrant personality and infectious laugh leaving a lasting imprint on everyone she met.

She inherited her love of Polka music from her father and never missed a chance to dance or share that joy with others. A gifted cook and baker, she was known far and wide for her delicious meals and her legendary birthday cakes—always made with love.

A devoted fan of Days of Our Lives and the Food Network, she also cherished a glass of wine with friends and never passed up an opportunity to socialize. Though she was born hearing, she lost her hearing as a young infant—an experience that transformed her journey. She embraced Deaf culture wholeheartedly, forming deep, lifelong friendships within a close-knit community that became a second family to her.

Above all, she was family-focused, and nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be missed beyond measure.

She lived fully, laughed often, and loved deeply. Her spirit lives on in every meal shared, every story told, and every dance in the kitchen.

She was a loving wife to Douglas for 51 years, a loving mother to Kelly (James) and Paula (Derrick), a cherished grandmother to Taylor, Morgan, Daniel, Austin, Liam, Lucas, Emily and Olivia, and a proud great grandmother to Graham and Lennox. She was a dear sister to Joe (Mary-Ann), Ron (Ann), Bonnie (Dave), Marion (Gary) Rob (Cindy) and she will be fondly remembered by friends and extended family. Judy is predeceased by her parents Dan and Marion Driscoll

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 14 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph. A funeral service will take place at 3:00 pm in the Chapel, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Lounge

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Hearing Society would be appreciated by the family.
