It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Kathie Chamberlain at the age of 68. Kathie died peacefully in the early morning hours of October 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind Trevor, her loving and dedicated husband of 48 years. She will be dearly missed by her loving daughters Jennifer (Bob) and Jill (Rob). She was Grandma to four adoring grandsons Evan, Benjamin, Elliot and Alexander who will forever hold a special place in her heart. Caring and cherished sister to Cindy and Connie (Bob). She is survived by her nieces, nephews, sister in-laws, brother in-laws and many close friends. Predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Dianne, as well as her stepfather Jim, who like Kathie, were taken too soon.
Kathie was born in Oakville, Ontario and moved several times until she settled in Guelph with her family during her teenage years. There, she attended Centennial CVI high school and met her husband, Trevor. They had two daughters, Jennifer and Jill, who she had a deep bond with. She was a wonderful mother who made motherhood look easy. She always knew the perfect things to say and do. Kathie was a dedicated employee of the Guelph Police Service for 39 years where she worked in Central Records. She was a hard worker and always had a smile on her face, ready to assist where she could. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage, gardening, reading, playing cards and doing her word searches. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Kathie was a gentle soul with a big heart. She was caring, patient and kind to everyone she met. She was the light in our lives, a survivor, fighter, and proof that miracles were possible, even when the odds were against her. Kathie’s passing is a huge loss to her family and friends and life will never be the same without her in it. Her passion for life, love and laughter will forever guide us in all that we do. We will cherish the many memories we have that will live on in our hearts until we meet again.
A sincere thank-you to the wonderful staff at Hospice Wellington who cared for Kathie in her final days and provided immense emotional support to her family. The kindness and compassion shown by the many staff and volunteers was comforting in her and our time of need.
A private funeral will be held followed by interment at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. For anyone wanting funeral details please email: [email protected].
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington are appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.
