With broken hearts and deep love, we share the passing of our beloved son, brother, and friend, Mitchell Ryan Haennel, who left us on June 20, 2025, at the age of 32. In his final days, Mitchell reached several personal goals that mattered deeply to him. He passed peacefully and with dignity, knowing that he had made progress that he was proud of.
Mitchell was born on January 19, 1993, and grew up surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. His early years were full of adventure, laughter, and a strong sense of connection. As a child, he was outgoing, spirited and always surrounded by a circle of friends. We will carry the many cherished memories of time spent with close neighbours and friends, trips to the cottage, and countless hours spent on the ice.
Mitchell’s journey over the last decade was marked by challenges but also by the unwavering support of those who never gave up on him. He had people in his corner to the very end—family, friends, and members of his community who saw his worth even when he struggled to see it himself. He was always someone that people naturally gravitated towards, despite the struggles that he faced. We know that people will hold onto the memory of the kind of person he was and will continue to remember him fondly.
Mitchell is survived by his loving mother, Nicole (Jeff) and his sister Megan (Taylor). He is now reunited with his father, Todd, after sixteen long years apart. He leaves behind a vast circle of extended family, friends and a community whose lives he has touched in unforgettable ways.
