He shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cathy (née Trento). Their life together was built on deep love, loyalty, and devotion to family, creating a legacy that will live on for generations.
A proud and caring father, Randy was deeply loved by his daughter Nicole Plat (Ryan) and his son Mike (Leah). He was an adoring grandfather to William, Joseph, and Charlotte, whom he affectionately called Winnie, Joe Mufferaw and Charlie. His grandchildren were the absolute joy of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Randy was predeceased by his parents, William and Joan Morrison, his brother David Morrison (2004), his parents-in-law, Carlo and Mary Trento and his brother-in-law Rick Vadori (2021).
He is survived by his brother William Morrison (Stephanie) and his sisters- and brothers-in-law Sandy Vadori, Pat and Henry Deter, and Mike and Diane Trento, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Randy had a deep love of sports, especially the Boston Bruins, and could always be counted on to have a game on or lively commentary to share. He was also an amazing cook who took great pride in preparing meals for family gatherings, trips to the cottage and fishing adventures—feeding those he loved was one of the many ways he showed his care. Known for his great sense of humour, Randy seemed to have a nickname for everyone, a small but meaningful reflection of the affection he had for the people in his life.
Family time was especially meaningful to Randy, particularly at Clearwater Lake in Muskoka, where countless memories were made filled with laughter, relaxation and togetherness. He also cherished his lifelong friendships and faithfully attended annual fishing trips to Lake Kipawa in Quebec with his friend Wayne and brothers Billy and Dave for almost 50 years—a tradition he held close to his heart.
Randy retired in 2011 from his career as a gasfitter at Union Gas, where he built many strong and lasting friendships over the years. Extremely organized and dependable, he could always be counted on to help with a job—big or small—never hesitating to lend a hand. A dedicated and passionate hockey player, he proudly played Old Timers’ hockey with his friends for as long as his health allowed, valuing the camaraderie as much as the game itself.
He and Cathy shared a love of travel, enjoying many memorable cruises with family and friends to the Caribbean and Hawaii, adventures that reflected their joy for life and time spent together.
Known for his kindness, loyalty, sense of humour and unwavering love for his family, Randy Morrison leaves behind a legacy of humour, friendship and devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Langridge and the compassionate nursing staff of the ICU at St. Mary’s Hospital, especially Nurse Julianna. Your exceptional care and kindness shown to Randy will be forever remembered.
Cremation has taken place. A Private Family Service will be held and a public Celebration of Randy’s Life will take place at a later date.
