Aileen Fidelis Mercer

MERCER, Aileen F. – 84, Halifax, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2010, in Ivany Place, Hammonds Plains. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Fidelis Fry. Aileen loved the Lord and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Mulgrave Park Baptist Church for 35 years. She loved to read and recite poetry. She was an awesome cook known as “The Muffin Lady” and loved a good puzzle. She was the surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her husband of 64 years, Gordon; son, Gordon Edward “Eddie” (Harriett), Yellowknife; son-in-law, Wayne (Celeste) Sanford, New Minas; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter, Judith Ann; sister Kay; brothers, Donnie, George, Murray “Tucker” and Eddie. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday October 2, in Mulgrave Park Baptist Church, Sebastian St., Halifax. Rev. Brian Keezer officiating. Family flowers only.
