Alexandra “Sandra” Rankin, passed away peacefully on March 3rd at home after a brief illness. Born April 7, 1939 in Mabou, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Finlay and Margaret (Beaton) Rankin. She is survived by her daughter Gina (Kevin) Boyd of Halifax; grandchildren Shayna, Nathan, Brandon, and Jonathan; great grandchildren Ocean Ayden, Isaac, all of Halifax; brother Francis Xavier(FX) Mary-Catherine Rankin, Mabou; sisters Anita (Don) MacDougall; Marcy , Halifax; Aunt Sally Beaton, Mabou; many nieces, nephews and cousings, all of who were very special to her. Predeceased by her special caregivers Annie MacDonnell and Angus Doyle of Halifax; companion James Bell, Halifax; daughter Heather-Ann in infancy and brother Allan John (AJ) of Mabou. Visitation Tuesday March 21, 2017, 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at JA Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. Funeral Mass Wednesday March 22 at 11am at St Michael’s Parish, Herring Cove Rd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Independent Living Nova Scotia or St Michael’s Parish.
