Andrea Jean Shevoley (nee Deagle) passed away on August 11, 2021 in Halifax, aged 80. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Shevoley and her brother-in-law Rheal LeBlanc. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Joan Patricia White and Gloria Ann LeBlanc, her brother-in-law George White and her sons John Scott and Stephen Alan and her nieces and nephews.
Andrea was born December 16, 1940 in New Glasgow Nova Scotia to Isabel Deagle (nee Madore). Andrea had itchy feet from a young age and soon the bright lights of Halifax beckoned. Wasting no time, she started her working and married life soon after high school.
Andrea was an avid reader, baker, knitter, acquacizer, cryptoquote solver and friend. She was better known as “Rhea” to the children in her life. Rhea was especially fond of her honorary grandchildren. She always had room for one more photo on her side table. Andrea worked full time for many years, ending her career as Office Administrator in the regional head office of JM Schneider. This led to her life long love of Oktoberfest sausage – preferably cooked on the BBQ. While she was slowed in the past few years by vascular dementia, she still had plenty of energy to celebrate her sister Gloria’s 80th birthday along with sister Joan and lots of family and friends. Arguably, Mom made the best fruit cake in the world and the next time you eat a slice, think of her (even though it won’t be nearly as good as hers).
Visitation will be held Sat August 21, 2021 from 2:00-5:00pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society or the charity of your choice
The family would like to thank the staff at Evan Hall for their exemplary care, especially during the past few months. Some friends are more than friends and we would like to thank Mom’s unofficial third sister Leona for all her help over the years.
