

Passed away peacefully at home with his family on Sunday, May 22, 2016, he was 98.
Born in Vraila, Greece, he was the eldest of the late Evangelos and Maria (Kintoni) Tsitouras. He was the last survivor of his immediate family...his brothers Christos, Ioannis, Thanasis, and sisters Angelina and Anastasia. Andreas lost his loving wife Sofia in 2010. He is survived by his son Angelo (Jodi), and grandchildren, Niki, Elena, Sophia, Andreas, Roula, and Angelina. Nieces and nephews Kiki Christodolou, Kostas Pheakos, Maria Panagiotakos, Vagelia Delligiianis, Maria Papadopoulou, Patricia Athanasiou, Vangie Mitropoulos, Joanna Tsitouras and extended family in Canada, USA, and Greece. Special thanks to Tira Muise who helped us provide loving care at home.
Andreas had a great life. He survived war time, where he was a communications officer. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 where he was successful in the restaurant business, including the Palace Restaurant, Colonia Restaurant, Steak Center, and Downtowner Restaurant.
Andreas was a well respected active member of the Greek Orthodox community where he was secretary of Community Council, served on the Greek School Committee, and Greek Soccer Team Committee, and a member of AHEPA. He enjoyed chanting at church and singing in the church choir.
Andreas was a huge sports fan especially soccer. He was a fixture at senior soccer games during the 70-90’s. Soccer fans would remember when he used the phrase “Halibut” during games. He had received an award of merit from soccer Nova Scotia.
Visitation will take place at J.A. Funeral home, 339 Lacewood Drive, on Thursday 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, Purcell’s Cove Road, and reception to follow in the Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George’s Orthodox Church.
