He was born on the family farm in Debert, NS on November 26, 1933. He was the son of William Wesley and Emma Carol Chisholm (McCully). He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years June Dalla Bowie Chisholm (Husband), son Michael Claude Chisholm and his partner Nancy Cardy, daughter Pamela Carol Bowie Chisholm and her partner Michael Whalen, grandchildren Emily Margaret Kraft Chisholm and Simon Michael Kraft Chisholm and his partner Jasmine May, brother Frank Chisholm and his wife Barbara Chisholm (Fleming), sisters-in-laws Goldie Chisholm (Conrad) and Ruth Chisholm (Sutherland). Predeceased by his parents, brothers Carl, Earl and Merle Chisholm.
Angus began his working career at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Truro, NS as a junior bank clerk. In the next seven years he was transferred to Middleton NS, Ottawa, and Montreal. He then joined the Royal Trust Company as a trust and estate officer and they later asked him to create and manage a bond trading department. Fullerton MacKenzie Ltd. offered him a position as a Vice-President to manage institutional bond portfolios. He later moved to Burns Brothers & Denton, investment brokers in Halifax and Montreal; Scotia Bond in Halifax, and assisted in the formation of JD Mack Ltd. As a final move, he spent 20 years as a Senior Investment Advisor at CIBC Wood Gundy. During this time his daughter Pamela joined him as his business partner. These last working years were the most fun and happiest of his career.
He was a member of the Cathedral Church of All Saints for many years and served on a number of committees including Chair of CC&A, and Treasurer of Dean and Chapter for 30 plus years.
Angus was active in the community by serving in various capacities at the Atlantic School of Theology, Mount Saint Vincent University, The Elizabeth Bishop Society, Ships Company, Great Village Pastoral Charge and others.
He and June did a number of international holidays together, including Australia, Russia, China, UK, Europe and North America. Also, Angus was an avid skier with so many exciting trips to western Canada and the US. In 1988 Angus and June purchased Balamore Manor in Great Village and enjoyed 30 years of country living with gardening and maintaining a 100 year old property. They had lots of good times with family and friends. Most of all he was very proud of his two children Michael and Pamela who have established themselves in successful careers; Michael in Engineering and Pamela as a Senior Wealth Advisor at CIBC Wood Gundy. They have been very supportive and caring for their parents through out their life times and particularly in their senior years. He was also very proud of his grandchildren Emily and Simon for both pursing their education in Engineering. He had a wonderful relationship with his extended family and in particular he had a fond affection for his great niece Lauren.
Those who knew Angus said he had a wonderful sense of humour, a heart of gold, and twinkling eyes. He enjoyed talking to people and getting to know them. Angus was an avid jazz lover and had a great appreciation of music. He was described by everyone as a kind, considerate gentleman and a great mentor. Angus will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
