Our beloved Mom, sister, aunt and friend passed away on December 6, 2021 in Halifax. Born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1946, “Annie” boarded the MV Pärnu (captained by her very courageous father, Jacob Suksdorf) at just 3 years old and sailed across the Atlantic with her family to Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Growing up, Anne and family lived for a time in both Halifax and Lower Sackville before they settled in Dutch Settlement. Anne attended high school in Musquodoboit, and studied journalism at Mount Saint Vincent University before writing for Halifax’s own Chronicle Herald. She even spent some time modeling! Anne had a passion for travel, and had a very special place in her heart for Ireland. Anne was strong willed, had a marvelous sense of humor, and a keen eye for fashion – she was always quick to point out and compliment someone on their outfit, jewelry or shoes! Above all else, Anne’s most treasured role was being a mother and she was most proud of her three children, Kirsten, Ingrid and Martin. Anne adored animals and music, and instilled a love and deep respect for both in all of her children. Though she endured many hardships, through it all she demonstrated profound courage, strength, resiliency, and most importantly, love. Anne was a devoted and loving mother and will be deeply missed by her children, family, and all who loved her.
Anne is predeceased by her mother Laine Suksdorf, father Jacob Suksdorf, and grandparents. She is survived by her daughter Kirsten (Saliste) Dogan and “prized” son-in-law Michael Dogan, daughter Ingrid Saliste, son Martin Saliste (Jaya), sister Kaie (Suksdorf) Flinn and brother-in-law Pat Flinn, brother Jaak Suksdorf (Darlene), nephews Kevin Flinn and Sean Flinn, and nieces Lisa (Flinn) MacPherson (Donald) and Kaie Peters.
Our deepest and most heart-felt thanks to the many, many staff at Northwood Halifax for their constant care and love for our “Ginger-Anne” over the last decade while she called Northwood home. We will never be able to adequately express our gratitude to you all.
Friends are invited to visit with family at the JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Monday December 13th from 6-7:30pm with a private prayer service to follow from 7:30 -8pm. Proof of double vaccination and government ID is required. Masks are mandatory. A private, family-only burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or other charity of your choice.

Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color.”
