Born in Charlottetown, PE, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Constance (Whear) Nash. Barbara attended the School for Girls at Mount Allison University. After her children were grown, she went to work at CBC as a researcher, followed by the Burnside Tennis Club. Barbara was the Storytime lady at the Bedford Library for a number of years, as well as, manning the desk. She was a member of the Junior League of Halifax, the IODE and was on the Board of Directors at Victoria Hall. She volunteered at the IWK and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, where she kept herself well supplied with artwork! Barbara loved to travel, was a voracious reader of any and all subjects and played bridge in one group for 50 years!
She is survived by her son, Frederick of Boothbay Harbor and Sugarloaf, ME, daughter, Deborah Smith (Robert) of Halifax, sister Rebecca (Nash) Stockhausen, Dartmouth, brother John Nash, Ottawa, two granddaughters, Erin Smith and Sarah Roach (Grant) and three great grandchildren, all in Fredericton, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Frederick James Munro, and brother Robert Nash.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Colorectal Cancer or the Palliative Care unit of the QEII, VG Centennial Building.
A special thanks to all the Nurses and Doctors of the 7A Palliative Care Unit. You made Mom’s days so much easier with your loving care.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Mom’s life will follow at a later date.
